Spanish Botijo
A Spanish botijo is a ceramic jug or urn that was historically used by workers to carry water and keep it fresh during the day. This beauifully handmade and hand painted version can be used to serve water or any other beverage of your choice. The narrow openings allow for air flow to permit smooth pouring and filling, but also provide a built-in protective cover, and the integrated handle makes it easy to lift and pour. Or you can just use it for decorative purposes--it makes a colorful and unique accent piece that blends well with Mediterranean and many other types of decor.
This beautiful piece of majolica was handmade and hand painted in the Toledo region of Spain, and coordinates with many of the other Spanish ceramic pieces on our site. Serving/Dishwasher Information: This item is food/beverage and dishwasher safe, however due to the unique shape, we do not recommend cleaning it in a dishwasher. The best idea is to hand wash this piece. Please note that none of our hand painted ceramics can be placed in the oven or otherwise used for cooking! |
